“The location, directly across from the beach and an easy walk to Torquay's harbor, is a notable asset. I found the Victorian architecture and rotunda bar particularly striking, giving a sense of grandeur that's not often encountered. While some aspects show their age, its seaside charm and dog-friendly policy create a welcoming atmosphere.”

I had a lovely visit to the Grand Hotel, where the lunch experience was delightful, thanks to some fantastic staff. The upgraded room was spacious and had a beautiful view, but some areas of the hotel could use a bit of modernization. The dining options could be improved, especially the lunch menu variety, but overall, I felt it was a good value for a relaxing day.

Rooms
8.0
The upgraded family room was spacious and clean, featuring a small balcony with a lovely sea view. However, some rooms do overlook air conditioning units.
Service
7.0
The service was attentive and accommodating, particularly from Tracy during our lunch. However, some staff members could be a bit brusque.
Location

Located right on the seafront in Torquay, it's within walking distance to many attractions, making it a convenient spot for visitors.
Dining

The dining room had delicious fish dishes, but the lunch menu felt a bit ordinary and could use more options.

6.4/10

I had a rather mixed experience at the hotel. While the staff were really friendly and dedicated, and I appreciated the lovely terrace for high tea, the overall facilities felt outdated and the dining was a letdown. Improvements in the breakfast service and room maintenance are definitely needed, but there were some shining moments that made my stay enjoyable.

Rooms
6.0
The first room I received was quite cramped and lacked amenities like a fridge, but after my complaint, I was moved to a better room with air conditioning and a fridge. However, it was still a bit dated with a cracked sink and chipped bath.
Service
7.0
The staff were genuinely kind and did their best to make my stay comfortable despite the chaotic breakfast situation.
Location
8.0
The hotel has a decent location, close to the seafront, but the building itself feels like it needs some revitalization.
Dining
5.0
Unfortunately, the dining experience was below expectations, especially with breakfast significantly lacking in organization and quality.
Facilities
6.0
The facilities, including the pools, seem promising but were not all operational during my stay, leading to disappointment.

6.6/10

My recent stay at the hotel was a mix of positives and negatives. On the bright side, the location is fantastic, and I appreciated the tasty breakfast options. However, there were significant cleanliness issues that really detracted from the experience, particularly in the common areas and the pool changing rooms. While the room was comfortable enough, I did struggle with noise from the guests in the room above me, which made for a less restful night than I had hoped.

Rooms
6.0
The room worked for my needs and had a comfortable bed, but the noise from above was quite disruptive. I also noted the cleanliness wasn't up to par.
Service
5.0
The service was a bit hit or miss. While some staff were efficient and helpful, others seemed overwhelmed and inattentive, especially during busy times.
Location
9.0
The hotel is located ideally for exploring the area, and the views are lovely. It's close to many attractions and right by the seafront, which I really enjoyed.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast was a highlight for me, offering a good variety of options and quality food. However, I wish the dining service had been more prompt.
Facilities
6.0
The indoor pool and spa facilities were nice, providing a great way to relax, but there were minor upkeep issues that need addressing.

The Grand Hotel offers a lovely stay with a breathtaking view of the sea and beautifully maintained facilities. My experience with the staff was delightful; they truly went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. While the dining had some high points, I found the menu could use a bit more variety. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, but the dining could be improved to match the hotel's excellent service and ambiance.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location is perfect with a lovely view of the train tracks and convenience of nearby transportation. The staff, especially Karen at breakfast, provided exceptional service that made our anniversary special. However, I felt the rooms could use some modernization to match the high standard of service and dining. Overall, a lovely experience, but room updates would enhance it!
